When there is a mutual need for training in front-line supervision, lab skills, or other technical skills, the DSN and affiliated community colleges offer training that is open to employees working for a variety of manufacturers.

Many colleges also have employment training panel (ETP) contracts and other grants that may subsidize the cost of training.
